Call to 'speed up' law approval

Deputy John Gollop
Deputy John Gollop is calling on the Chief Minister to take action

A politician is calling for something to be done to speed up the process of approving laws in Guernsey.

Deputy John Gollop claims the island is waiting too long for legislation on animal welfare and the creation of a sex offenders register.

He says the documents have both been approved in Guernsey but then rejected by the UK's Privy Council.

He is calling on Guernsey's Chief Minister, Deputy Lyndon Trott, to take action to rectify the process.

"They [the policy council] keep on being told that there's something not right with our legislation and the way it works and yet they don't do anything.

"I just want the Chief Minister and senior people to come out in the open and say what they plan to do."
