Veterans invited to join parade

Remembrance Sunday Parade in 2008
The Bailiff has invited ex-servicemen and women to take part

Guernsey's Bailiff has invited ex-servicemen and women to join this year's remembrance parade.

Sunday's parade has been organised by the Royal British Legion and will begin at the Town Arsenal in St Peter Port just after 1030 GMT.

Taking part will be the island's cadet forces, standards from local organisations and veterans.

Sir Geoffrey Rowland said any ex-service personnel wishing to take part should meet at the Fire Station.

A bugler will sound the Last Post at 1058 GMT and the Act of Remembrance will take place at the War Memorial at the top of Smith Street.

It will begin with two minutes silence followed by a short service and wreath laying.

Later the Guernsey Merchant Navy Association will hold a separate service, with wreaths laid at the Prosperity Monument on the L'Eree headland, in remembrance of all seafarers lost at sea.
