Appeal for island's hall repairs

Sark Island Hall
Floors in the centre had to be pulled up to let them dry out

A fundraising effort to plug a £25,000 shortfall in a community hall's repair costs has been launched in Sark.

The Island Hall was damaged when it was flooded as a result of a major water leak in January.

The centre's concrete foundations were flooded and some floors had to be ripped up while they dried out.

Insurance will cover more than £100,000 of repairs, but the rest will need to come from the public, the hall's trustees said.
