Conduct panel could sack deputies

Guernsey's code of conduct panel could be given the power to recommend deputies are sacked.

The rule change has been prompted by the investigation into Guernsey's deputy chief minister earlier this year after he told a racist joke.

At the time of the debate on Deputy Bernard Flouquet's future, the panel recommended a formal reprimand.

But some members were unhappy the rules did not permit his removal. Deputies will debate the matter later in July.
