Island teachers 'not passed over'

Local teachers in Guernsey are being reassured they are not being passed over for jobs.

Deputy Jenny Tasker said she had spoken to a number of teachers who believed people from outside the Bailiwick were winning jobs over locally-born staff.

Education Minister Carol Steere said the department always employed local teachers where possible.

However, the minister added that some specialist staff were recruited from outside the island.
