Seigneurie contents may be sold

Chief Pleas
Money from selling La Seigneurie's contents would go to the Chief Pleas

Furniture, china and bric-a-brac from La Seigneurie in Sark could be auctioned off to the public.

The building has been home to the island's Seigneurs since 1730 but is currently being leased out.

The building's contents are vested in Chief Pleas to ensure items of historical value stay in the island.

But as a lot of items were moved out for safekeeping when the house was leased out, it was felt that those of no significant value could be sold off.

The property is currently being stored in La Société Serquaise room.

The Chief Pleas is being asked to allow any items which are of no historical importance to be auctioned off - with any proceeds being returned to it. A decision has yet to be made.
