Parking suspended for royal trip

Earl and Countess of Wessex
It will be the first time Prince Edward and Sophie have visited the Bailiwick

Special parking arrangements are being implemented for the Earl and Countess of Wessex's official visit to Guernsey.

The changes will come into force in St Peter Port on Monday at 0800 BST.

All disc and motorcycle parking will be suspended until 1400 BST on Ann's Place from the Old Government House Hotel to the top of Hirzel Street.

Disc parking will also be suspended on Candie Road until 1430 BST and three-hour disc parking will be suspended at the Castle Emplacement until 1515 BST.

This will be the royal couple's first official visit to the Bailiwick.

The two-day trip, on Monday and Tuesday, will see them unveil a granite stone at St Sampson's High and Le Murier, which opened in September.

They will also visit the Viaer Marchi festival, attend a meal hosted by the States, visit Castle Cornet and the Priaulx library as well as take whistle-stop trips to Alderney, Herm and Sark.
