Swine flu 'inevitable' in island

Guernsey's director of public health has said it is inevitable that swine flu will reach the island.

Dr Stephen Bridgeman spoke as the first case of the virus was detected in neighbouring Jersey.

Anyone in Guernsey who appears to have influenza-like symptoms is being tested for the virus.

The number of confirmed swine flu cases in the UK has reached 1,004, officials from the Health Protection Agency confirmed on Friday.
