States may drop routes control

Aurigny
Guernsey States owns Aurigny

Management of Guernsey's air routes could change hands because of concerns over a conflict of interest.

Guernsey States, which owns the airline Aurigny, is considering handing the responsibility over to the Guernsey Office of Utility Regulation (Our).

Licence restrictions are also to be relaxed, which the Commerce and Employment Department hopes may lead to more routes.

The control the island's air routes will be debated by the States in June.
