Tree recycling to help charities

Organisers of a charity recycling scheme in Guernsey are expecting to collect thousands of Christmas trees over the next week.

The scheme, organised by Specsavers, offers to pick up old trees from homes in the island in return for a £5 donation for charity.

Last year's scheme proved so popular that it was extended to allow more people to get their trees recycled.

The initiative helped raise more than £1,500 for the Prince's Trust.
