The 18-year-old victim, who has not been named, suffered head wounds in the attack, which happened on Saturday evening in the North Plantation area.

He was flown to Southampton General Hospital for treatment. Members of his family have travelled to England to be with him.

Two men arrested and questioned by police have been bailed until January.

A number of people who were questioned by officers were released without charge.
