Landsbanki group upbeat on talks

Guernsey savers with money in failed Iceland bank Landsbanki say a future meeting with the island's chief minister has given depositors hope.

The Landsbanki Depositors Action Group, set up by 2,000 savers, said the meeting with Lyndon Trott in December was key to its plans.

To date only 30% of savers' money has been guaranteed.

Guernsey currently has no depositor protection scheme, though the States is considering introducing one.

More than 100 people attended a meeting for savers on Thursday night.
