Donations ease apple crop fears

An appeal for apples has eased a shortage at the start of Guernsey's cider making season.

More than 300 people have helped by taking their apples to the Guernsey Cider Company after its heavily pruned trees failed to yield a good crop.

Cider making has been revived in Guernsey after it underwent a decline in the 20th Century.

The firm has 3,000 trees around Les Fauxquets de Haut in the parish of Castel, an original cider-making site.
