Pensioners work scheme 'success'

A scheme allowing Guernsey's pensioners to keep working if they want to is being hailed as a success by the company running it.

Sandpiper CI, which is the Channel Islands' largest retailer, abolished its compulsory retirement age about a year ago.

The company said it wanted to encourage diversity in the workplace.

There are now 16 members of staff over the age of 65 working in several supermarkets and a wine warehouse.
