Mobile customers to keep numbers

Mobile phone customers in Jersey and Guernsey will soon be able to keep their numbers when they swap operators.

Dutch company PortingXS, which has been rolling out similar programmes in the Netherlands, will include Guernsey in the switchover in December.

Guernsey mobile firms Cable and Wireless, Wave Telecom and Airtel Vodafone have been in talks to come up a solution which suits everyone.

The work will cost £396,000, which will be paid by the operators.
