Candidate picked for Herm tenancy

Shell Beach, Herm
The Heyworths have been Herm's tenants for nearly three decades

An announcement as to who will be the new tenant of Herm is expected to be released within the next few weeks.

The remaining 40 years of the island's lease went on the worldwide market in May and was expected to reach a guide price of £15m.

The outgoing owners Adrian and Pennie Heyworth have picked a preferred candidate for the tenancy.

But the ultimate decision will rest with Guernsey States, Treasury and Resources Department.

Deputy Charles Parkinson said: "The department will only choose the right tenant for the benefit of the island."
