Island's inflation shows big rise

There has been a big rise in the rate of inflation in Guernsey, according to official figures from the States.

The figure for the end of June was 5.5% compared to 4.8% at the end of March - up by 0.7%.

The Retail Price Index (RPI), which excludes mortgage interest payments, also rose from 4.3% at the end of March to 5.4% this quarter.

The Policy Council figures show inflation is the highest the island has experienced since December 1991.
