States debate new energy policy

Guernsey's future energy policy is to be debated this week by States deputies.

The States will be considering a report into what the island's future fuel policy should be.

The report suggests phasing out the use of oil and gas in favour of renewable energy sources.

Deputy Tony Spruce has said he will attempt to delay the debate. He said the effect on oil and gas suppliers needs to be considered more closely.
