Football body names new chairman

Guernsey's Football Association has appointed a new chairman after the resignation of five of its board members.

Mark Le Tissier, the former GFA director for representative football, will take over from former chairman Dave Nussbaumer.

He resigned in April over concerns clubs had about plans to change the league.

Three other board members stood down at the organisation's AGM on Thursday.

They were vice-chairman Dave Vidamour, director Graham Skuse and secretary Mark Vidamour.

Youth development chief Chris Schofield resigned in April alongside Dave Nussbaumer.

It meant there were only four members left of the nine-strong board.

At the AGM plans to revamp the league were approved.

A new senior league with multiple divisions was brought in from next season, as was the abolition of the Jackson and Youth One leagues in favour of a development league for 16-21 year-olds.

Players will also only be allowed to play for one club on the island.

Northerners, Vale Rec and Port City all voted against the plans.
