Church's silver altar cross taken

Silver cross stolen from Town Church
The cross was taken between Monday night and Tuesday morning

The cross from the main altar in Guernsey's Town Church has been stolen.

Police say it was taken between 1745 BST on Monday evening and 0930 BST on Tuesday morning from St Peter Port.

The cross is silver, with floral detailing containing the images of an eagle, a man, a bull and a lamb and is worth about £1,500.

Guernsey Police are investigating the theft and want to speak to anyone who may have seen the cross or has information about the theft.

Church warden, Ellis Bebb, said he was saddened by the news but said it would not change the way people can use the church.
