States staff warned on pay demand

Guernsey's housing minister believes States manual workers risk pricing themselves out of their jobs if they do not back down on a pay demand.

Manual workers have threatened industrial action if they are not awarded an increase based on an inflation figure plus 3%.

Deputy Dave Jones says the States may look at whether those jobs are needed.

Negotiations are ongoing between union representatives and the Public Sector Remuneration Committee.
