Library books hide secret artwork

Artwork has been hidden in library books in Guernsey in a bid to encourage people to read.

Guille-Alles Library in St Peter Port has placed 50 postcard-sized artworks randomly across the library's book stock as part of a national initiative.

The artwork was created by artists from around the world, including Louise Gilligan from Guernsey, who were inspired by their reading experiences.

Members of the public finding the hidden art will be able to keep it.

Ms Gilligan's art was inspired by Haruki Murakami's The Wind-up Bird.

As the arts development assistant for the States Culture and Leisure, she believes the hidden artwork initiative will benefit authors, artists and readers.
