Alcohol-free zones are extended

Additional measures are being put in place to control drinking in St Peter Port on Liberation Day.

In 2007 an alcohol free zone was established by the police on the seafront.

This year it will be extended to include the High Street, Smith Street, Fountain Street and the bus terminus.

The organisers of the event on 9 May are hoping to focus on environmental issues while linking to Guernsey's historical past.

The event is held to mark the liberation of Guernsey from German occupation during World War II.
