Festival loses headliner Doherty

Organisers are searching for a replacement for Pete Doherty

A fledgling Guernsey music festival has lost a headline act after singer Pete Doherty was jailed.

He had been due to appear at the first Guernsey Live on 4 May along with Futureheads and Guillemots.

Doherty was sentenced to 14 weeks in prison for violating his probation and for using drugs.

Organiser Warren Holt said he was "hugely disappointed" at losing Doherty - who was due to perform a solo show - and he hoped to find a replacement.

Doherty had been given a suspended jail sentence for possession of drugs and driving illegally in October last year.

His supervision order required him to make regular visits to court for progress reports, as well as take part in a drug rehabilitation programme.

The punishment means Doherty has also been forced to postpone a solo show at the Royal Albert Hall in April.
