A Channel Islands' ferry company has said passengers will still be able to travel on its services throughout 2008.

Condor Ferries issued a statement after media speculation about its future, although it did not confirm or deny whether it had been put up for sale.

Condor said it hoped to increase passenger numbers.

"Condor will maintain its commitment to its Jersey and Guernsey sea links - as it has done for the past 60 years," Chief Executive Rob Provan said.

The statement said the company had consistently exceeded the terms of its service level agreements with both the States of Jersey and the States of Guernsey.

Condor carried 425,000 passengers on its services between the Channel Islands and St Malo, France, last year.
