Warning after wood washes ashore
Surfers and boat users in Jersey have been warned to look out for wood floating in the sea.

Police issued the warning after wood was washed up on St Ouen's beach.

It is thought the timber may have come from the cargo ship Ice Prince which shed 2,000 tonnes after sinking off the coast of Dorset earlier this month.

There have also been reports of wood coming ashore on the coast of Guernsey. Anyone removing large quantities of wood in good condition must report it.

The Receiver of Wreck in Guernsey is Mr Adrian Lewis, while in Jersey, the role is assumed by Harbour Master Howard Le Cornu.
