Islanders invited for winter swim
Guernsey swimmers and divers have been invited to brave the winter weather and take Christmas Day dips.

The annual Polar Bear swim, organised by the Guernsey Swimming Club, regularly sees about a dozen swimmers at La Vallette Outdoor Bathing Pools.

Christmas is also the only day of the year that dives are allowed at St Peter Port harbour. Divers register ahead of time with the Harbour Authority.

Meanwhile, the Salvation Army is serving up about 50 meals.

Volunteers hold a traditional Christmas dinner in Clifton Hall for people who prefer not to be alone.

The turkey dinner is followed by carols and a visit from Santa.

Catering staff at Princess Elizabeth Hospital are also dishing up a traditional Christmas meal to help bring a "family feel" to patients who are staying during the holidays.
