Computer glitch caused tax fault
A computer problem is being blamed for Guernsey drivers being sent motor tax reminders by mistake.

The letters are being sent out to give motorists details on how much they need to pay, ahead of the tax being scrapped next year.

But there have been complaints of islanders receiving letters in error.

Environment Minister Deputy David De Lisle has said it was because of a technical glitch with the driver licensing authority's database.

Mr De Lisle said it was a "rare" occurrence and only applies to certain cases.

It is hoped an upgrade of the computer database will address the issue.
