Local services will not be affected by the mainland strike action
Guernsey Post has warned islanders to expect further postal delays from Monday while strike action continues in the UK.

A spokesman said items sent to the UK would arrive at least 24 hours late during the staggered strike days.

Divisions within the Royal Mail in the UK have been allocated a different day to strike during a two-week campaign.

Guernsey Post is advising customers to post items early and use the special delivery service for urgent items.

It will not impact locally or with inter-island mail services to and from Jersey.

The first part of the two-week campaign of staggered strike action throughout Royal Mail started on Thursday.

Union members are protesting about pay and job losses that they say will come from the modernisation of the firm.

Royal Mail says the changes are needed for it to stay competitive and vowed to keep delivering mail during the action.
