Beach fails water quality checks
Pembroke Bay
Pembroke Bay did not meet European minimum standards
A Guernsey beach has failed to meet European water quality standards.

Pembroke Bay was the only Channel Island beach to fail the checks carried out by the Marine Conservation Society for its Good Beach Guide.

As in 2006, L'Eree, Grand Rocques and Port Soif were recommended for the highest water quality and adequate treatment of sewage discharges.

Vazon improved from a basic rating to recommended. Havelet Bay, Fermain and Saint's Bay showed good water quality.

Cobo Beach, Ladies Bay, Petit Bot Bay and Bordeaux met the statutory minimum.

Portelet Bay fell from its top recommendation in 2006 to the minimum.

The reports said Guernsey welcomes the States' green paper on the issue.
