A Guernsey charity has said Alderney must go ahead with a smoking ban in order to protect the health of the island's children.
The States of Alderney has agreed to introduce a smoking ban which would outlaw the practice in enclosed public places, but a date has not been set.
Around 100 protestors took part in a march against the ban on Saturday.
Guernsey Adolescent Smokefree Project (GASP) said the legislation was the best way to reduce smoking.
It said if Alderney was to decide not to follow Guernsey's lead it would send out the wrong message to smokers.
The States is due to discuss the ban at its next meeting.
