Caution for nurse who lied on CV
A midwife who lied on her CV for a job at Guernsey's Princess Elizabeth Hospital will be able to continue in the profession.

Local supervising authority midwifery officer Valerie Beale told a conduct hearing Muriel Bickerdike had been involved in a series of incidents.

A subsequent background check revealed inconsistencies on her CV.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council ruled Ms Bickerdike was guilty of misconduct, and issued a five-year caution.

Committee chairman, Mrs Elizabeth Rush, said: "The offence of making a misleading statement on a CV must be taken very seriously especially when it has the potential to impact on patient care.

"However, we recognise, although do not condone, that embellishments to CVs must frequently occur."

Ms Bickerdike was dismissed from the hospital in 2004 and no longer works in Guernsey.
