Increase in island bank deposits
The amount of money deposited with banks in the Channel Island of Guernsey has reached record levels.

Latest figures from the Guernsey Financial Services Commission show more than £92bn was held by local financial institutions by the end of 2006.

It represents an increase of nearly £3bn on the previous quarter and is the latest in a run of quarterly rises for island banks.

The financial services industry is Guernsey's largest employer.
