Call for housing licence rethink
A senior deputy is calling for changes to Guernsey's housing licence system to encourage more workers from abroad.

Education Minister Martin Ozanne says recruiting teaching staff is becoming more difficult.

He is due to hold talks on the issue with the Housing Department minister Dave Jones in January.

He said: "I hope that there's going to be some mileage out of those talks. I know that he is keen to look at licensing in a different way."

He added: "It is an ever increasing problem that we are up against."

Guernsey has about 1,100 guest workers, mainly working in retail, farming and hospitality in the island.
