Farmers no longer need extra hour
A farmer from Guernsey has said advances in technology mean an extra hour of daylight in the morning is no longer necessary for the job.

Traditionally, the clocks were put back an hour to help agriculture by creating lighter mornings.

But Ray Watts said the benefits of lighter evenings to the community now outweigh any gain for farmers.

The UK's Local Government Association have also called for a change, saying hundreds of lives could be saved.

They want Winter to be GMT +1, equivalent to British Summer Time while Summer would be GMT +2.

They believe the lighter evenings would make the roads safer for children and cyclists.
