Fall in island carbon pollution
Air quality is improving in Guernsey, with the amount of carbon pollution in the island down by nearly 16%, according to new figures.

The States of Guernsey has ratified the Kyoto Protocol and agreed to cut carbon dioxide emissions by 12.5% by 2012.

The decline in carbon pollution is thought to be largely due to the electricity cable link with France.

This has led to a reduction in the amount of fossil fuels being burned at the island's power station.

Countries around the world have signed up to Kyoto in an effort to lower their emissions of gases which encourage the climate to change.
