Deputy says waste site is "awful"
A south east deputy is vowing to fight the cause of residents affected by the Pointes Lane rubbish site.

Residents say the amount of vermin, birds and rubbish at the site is now out of control.

Deputy Francis Quin said the problem at the site is "awful" and the site has grown took big for the location.

The Environment Department is looking for someone to run a similar site at Longue Hougue, but it has yet to make a final decision.

Deputy Quin said people are quick to rule out an incinerator as a solution to Guernsey's rubbish issues, but they do not have a better answer.

Island Waste, which is responsible for the tip, declined to comment.
