Women 'unaware' of pension change
There is concern in Guernsey that some married women in the island could be missing out on their States pensions.

Married women who depended on their husbands' contributions for their pension had to wait until their spouses were 65 before getting any money.

But since 2004 a woman who reaches 65 before her husband may be able to claim a part payment.

It is thought some women do not know of the change and they could get a part pension until their husband retires.

The Social Security Department is keen to hear from anyone who thinks this may apply to them.
