Porpoise rescued off island coast
Porpoise being rescued at Perelle
The porpoise will continue to be monitored
A porpoise has been rescued after becoming stranded on a Guernsey beach on Friday.

More than 10 people were involved in helping the creature after it became trapped by the dropping tide at Perelle on the island's west coast.

Local vet John Knight said all efforts had been made to save the animal and they would continue to monitor it.

Mr Knight said: "We've given him some medication which will take a few hours to kick in."

He added: "We taken him out to deep water and, if we're lucky and the drugs kick fairly in quickly, he may be strong enough to continue on his way."
