Part approval for electric bikes
Sark's politicians have paved the way to allow electric bicycles on the island for the first time.

Although strict rules govern motor vehicles, it was argued there could be health benefits from the move.

The island's doctor claims some patients too unfit to use normal cycles could be encouraged to exercise.

The Chief Pleas agreed to the change - but on condition the doctor had to approve special licences issued to individual patients.

The island is famous for its tough rules which have ensured the island is virtually free of motor vehicles, only tractors are allowed.
