Flu vaccine supplies reach island
Extra stocks of flu vaccine have arrived in Guernsey after surgeries ran out last month.

A few hundred doses will be given to those considered to be most at risk from catching the virus this winter.

Emergency plans have been also been drawn up by the States to deal with any future pandemic in the island.

Health professionals have been consulted over the plans, which include creating a special flu ward at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.

The last major pandemic was in 1968 and some experts believe another could be due.

But Dr David Jeffs, the island's director of public health, said Guernsey would be unlikely to see the first cases in any outbreak.
