A senior manager of Wave Telecom has defended his company's siting of a mobile phone mast in Guernsey.
The mast is being constructed in L'islet
Residents in L'islet said they were shocked to find a 50ft (15.25m) aerial being constructed close to their homes because they missed planning notices.
Wave's deputy manager, Chris Elliot, said the company relied on the Environment Department's planning process for permission to erect masts.
He added the company was working well within all industry safety guidelines.
Residents say they missed the planning notice in a local paper and existing consultation measures were insufficient.
The States Environment Department says site notices are to be introduced by the end of the year.
