Record passenger numbers carried
Last year saw record-breaking figures for bus travel in Guernsey.

More than 100,000 extra people have used local routes since 2003, an increase of nearly 8%.

The environment department believes these figures prove the money being invested in the Island's bus services is paying dividends.

Route 7, which travels the island's coastline, accounted for almost 20% of all journeys. The most popular month for bus travel in 2004 was August.

The environment department also claims a rise in commuter bus travel of 11% shows buses are becoming a viable alternative to cars.
