Fire crews used straps and the farmer's tractor to free the animal
A pregnant cow is recovering after being rescued from a douit (stream) in Guernsey last week.

Farmer Richard Valpied alerted the GSPCA after discovering the animal stuck in a muddy stream at St Andrew.

The fire brigade was also called to dig out part of the bank in an attempt to free the cow, which was exhausted and very distressed.

After two failed attempts, fire crews used straps and the farmer's tractor to free the animal unharmed.
