Delay to park playground repairs
Fallen tree
Signs of fungal decay have been found in the trees
Repairs to a popular play area at Saumarez Park in Guernsey will not begin until September.

The playground was declared unsafe when two oak trees fell in July.

The States Environment Department said the work cannot begin immediately because special materials need to be ordered for the repairs.

They are urging people not to ignore the warning signs and barriers which are keeping part of the park closed for safety reasons.

Experts are still trying to work out why the Turkey oaks came down. Some signs of fungal decay were found.
