Sponsorship saves Boxing Day swim

Some brave swimmers choose to wear fancy dress
Guernsey's traditional Boxing Day swim at Cobo has been saved and will go ahead this year.

The event was cancelled in 2003 because of the need for expensive insurance cover. This year the Heritage Group has stepped in to provide sponsorship.

More than 200 people normally turn out for a dip in the sea and are encouraged to wear fancy dress.

It has become a significant fundraiser for the Guernsey Cheshire Homes with almost £2,000 raised in 2002.

This year's event will take place at 1000 GMT on Monday 27 December, because Boxing Day falls on a Sunday.
