Increase in stamps is 'justified'
Letter being posted
Guernsey Post is increasing the cost of sending mail
Guernsey Post has defended an 18% rise in the cost of postage, and blamed the Royal Mail.

The company's managing director Mike Hall said the increase was "regrettable" but the decision was justified.

Local stamps will go up by 4p to 26p and post to the UK will cost 32p - a rise of 5p.

The Office of Utility Regulation (OUR) has backed the increase but has also frozen the new level for two years.

It had refused to sanction a request by Guernsey Post for even higher postage charges.
