Six Russian servicemen killed in Chechnya

The Russian authorities in Chechnya say four of their soldiers were killed and seven injured in a rebel ambush overnight near the town of Urus-Martan.

In another incident, two Russian servicemen were killed in an explosion at the Khankala military base near the Chechen capital, Grozny.

Meanwhile Rusian planes and helicopters have been attacking rebel targets on the borders with Georgia and the Russian region of Dagestan.
