Soyuz rocket launch surrounded by heightened security

The Soyuz rocket has launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome in southern Kazakhstan, amid tight security following two suicide attacks on the Moscow metro.

One American NASA astronaut and two Russian cosmonauts are bound for the orbiting International Space Station which they'll reach on Easter Sunday.

The astronauts are due to stay on board the space station until mid-September.
