Britain seeks foreign entrepreneurs

The British government is today expected to publish details of a scheme to make it easier for foreign entrepreneurs to settle in Britain.

The Immigration Minister, Barbara Roche, said the scheme would be targeted at individuals who could bring economic benefit to Britain, but who do not qualify under existing rules.

Until now entrepreneurs have had to invest a substantial sum in order to stay in Britain -- but correspondents say the government may change the rules to allow those with certain specialist skills to reside in Britain -- particularly those associated with Information Technology and e-commerce.
